With fifteen years of experience, Janez is the right choice to be your Architect and your advocate. As the Architectural design professional, we provide quality design and project management. We do not “do it alone” but rather surround ourselves with quality professionals in related fields that bring the skills that are required for any built project. While we specialize in project types, based on our dominant experience and knowledge, our approach serves clients well on a variety of work. We have experience on a range of project sizes, from 1.3 million square feet to a residential addition. In each case, the client benefits from individualized attention, a team environment and the ability to anticipate project “curveballs”. The result is a pleasing design with quality documents and an advocate throughout the process. Furthermore, Janez does something that most Architects would never dream of; if we meet a potential client whose work is best suited with a trusted colleague, we will refer the work and make the connection.
Graham Ruggie AIA - Principal:
As the Owner and Architect of Janez, Graham brings a rich background of Architectural and on site experience to each project. As important as his Masters of Architecture, Graham also brings critical Management experience from his years in the hospitality industry and a management degree from Boston University. Through successful completion and practice of programs like Marriott’s Total Quality Management course, he understands the importance of setting expectations, service, delivery and the diligence required to deliver.
Graham saw opportunity in the economic climate of 2008/2009 to build a practice based on relationships, skills and a desire to succeed (see the Boston Globe article ) As a result, within a year, Janez has successfully completed residential, commercial and restaurant projects. Trusted staff join the practice on a project basis, based on their skill and experience with the firm and allow the practice to meet current demand with low overhead.

David Sargent AIA - Project Manager/Architect:
Dave
wears many hats including Project Manager and Lead Designer for the firm. His design skills and depth of experience bring a valued balance to the firm's portfolio. Throughout his career, Dave has designed and successfully completed many projects throughout New England; including luxury single-family, multi-family, mixed use, retail and small to mid-sized commercial projects.
Previously, Graham and Dave worked together at a large Architectural and Engineering firm, most notably on a high rise Residential Condominium Project in Sarasota Florida.
History of Company Name:
Janez (pronounced ‘ya-nez’) is the Slovenian version of the name John. John Zupancic (pro. ‘zoo-pan-sic’) was the grandfather of Graham Ruggie and concrete contractor in the Cleveland area for many years. John was a large influence for Graham and taught him the work ethic that has led to the success of Janez today; hard work, unyielding commitment to quality and integrity. From the Alps along the north. the Adriatic to the south, the wine country along the Italian boarder to the castles and fertile farm land to the east, Slovenia is worth a visit.
